7 Items You Must Have While Traveling With Your Baby
As a new mum, traveling with baby may seem out of the question to you at first as it requires a lot of advance planning. Not only you’re required to be well prepared for the journey but also you have to make sure you're not missing out on anything that your baby might require during travel. However, traveling with your newborn can really be a fun experience as long as you don’t forget following essential baby items to pack in your carry-on:
Nursing Cover:
If you’re still breastfeeding, make sure to carry a lightweight nursing cover during travel with your little one. When you're on the go, you might need to breastfeed your newborn in many public places like a bus, park or restaurant. In such places and situations, a nursing apron proves extremely useful in maintaining your comfort and privacy.
Blankets:
While you're going on a trip, take a couple of blankets with you to ensure you would be able to swaddle your newborn whenever needed on the way. Apart from swaddling, blankets can also be used for laying the infant down, protecting him from the oppressive sunlight and many other purposes. This is the reason why blankets become a must-have item for a traveling mum.
Diapers and Wipes:
Bring lots of disposable Diapers and Wipes in your diaper bag when you’re out. Diapers keep your infant dry and comfortable all the time, whereas Wipes are good for cleaning up dirty mouths, hands or spills during travel. So packing more Diapers and Wipes than you expect to need is always a good idea while you’re going out with your little one.
Changing Mats:
Since there is no doubt your little one will need his diaper changed many times on the way, you must carry a few lightweight and portable changing mats that make the diaper changing process extremely easy and hygienic. Protecting your little one from dirty surfaces, baby changing mats ensure a safe, germ-free journey for him.
Burp Cloths:
Being a breastfeeding mum, it is obligatory for you to burp your infant after every feed regardless of where you are. So to protect your clothes from messy burps during travel, bring a couple of burp clothes with you. Apart from protecting your shoulder from drools, you can also use them to soak up accidentally spilled milk during breastfeeding.
Bibs:
When travelling, you’ll definitely need to feed your toddler and this is where baby bibs come in quite handy. Protecting your little one’s clothing against drools, spit-ups and food messes, they not only keep him neat and clean all along the way but also save you from washing his stained clothes during travel. So carry enough washable as well as some disposable bibs.
Baby Carrier:
If you’ve planned to do a lot of walking and sightseeing during the trip, carriers can prove to be quite useful for you. Not only they will keep your newborn close to you in crowded places, but also they will allow you to keep your hands free during the tour. You can either carry a front carrier, or take a lightweight collapsible stroller with you, if possible.
